On Monday, February 1, 2010, the Period 1 PE classes at La Canada High School and 7/8 School, along with other Californian schools, nonprofit organizations, businesses, service organizations and clubs, participated in a mass attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the “Most People Jumping/Skipping Rope at the Same Time.” The current record is held by Australia (59,000 people).
On May 26 we heard from our representative at Guinness World Records: "I am pleased to announce that you have successfully set a new Guinness World Record for 'Most people skipping (multiple venue)'! The record for the most people skipping in multiple venues was achieved by 70,880 participants from 294 schools in an event organised by California Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation & Dance (CAHPERD) and Jamba Juice in California, USA, on 1 February 2010."
